Who designs your products?

Cindy-Lee, our director, is the sole designer of the collection. She works with makers globally to get the production realised. She has studied furniture design and lighting engineering along with welding, exhibition and set design. Prior to establishing Lightly in 2005, Cindy-Lee was a consultant for five years for architects and interiors in lighting.

Where can I find Lightly products?

We sell to around 100 retailers in Australia – email us to find your closest store. While our much-loved Collingwood showroom has closed its doors, we hope to reopen a new Lightly store in the future.

Are there any colour variations of your Lightly products?

We custom powder coat our products in limited edition runs. The colour powder is made in small runs of 50, so there may be minor variations per batch.

Your leather strap shelves, what length we can go to with two straps without buckling? Is it worth getting a third for a midpoint?

I would suggest 1200mm - 1400mm x 310mm timber lengths, longer than that you could add another strap for weight bearing.

Are your Lightly brass products solid or painted?

We use the finest solid brass which, is then brushed.

Are the Lightly Assemblages leather shelf sold with the shelf?

No, the shelf is sold separately.

Where are your Lightly products made?

Our products are made in our Melbourne studio and in our sustainability and ethically-approved studio in northern India. We established this studio in 2016 and have a wonderful relationship with the team. We have supported and trained the artisans there, and a small team of staff permanently work for the brand in India daily.

Do you make Lightly items sustainably?

Yes, by choice since 2005. We have always made our products by hand in limited editions with the environment in mind. Most batches are 50 pieces of each, so you are investing in handcrafted.

Is there a drainage hole and tray in Lightly planters?

We suggest using a plastic or recycled saucer underneath to catch water at all times, especially outside so water doesn't sit on the metal. Ideally, the saucer is hidden beneath.

Does the metal rust on the Lightly products?

We apply zinc oxide under our powder coat to eliminate any rusting that may occur. However, powder-coated finishes and metals will react to organic matter and chemicals in soil and the environment or cleaning products. To minimise this, we recommend using our vessels as a ‘housing’ pot with the potted plant inside for longevity. Drain outside when watering or use a tray underneath so the metal never sits in water for any length of time.
Clean with a soft, damp cloth only trays, do not machine wash or use chemicals.

Do the Lightly planters fade outside?

Sun exposure and direct sunlight break down the particles within any powder paint over time. To reduce fading, do not keep it in direct light.

How accurate are your colours on the website?

The colours are accurate at the time of production using a calibrated system. (The device you are viewing on may not be colour accurate). If you are trying to match a specific colour, we’d suggest seeing it at one of our retailers.

Can I recycle your packaging?

Yes, you can recycle it.

Do you still make those butterflies from old china saucers?

Yes, our recycling project, Chrysalis, has recycled over 10,000 saucers.

Are you a Muuto retailer?

Yes, we have been a brand partner of Muuto (Copenhagen) in Australia since 2015.

Is the ambit rail light by Muuto height adjustable?

Yes.

What is the lead time on Muuto products if not in stock?

It is 8-12 weeks.

Are all the lights on the website adjustable?

Yes.

Can I get the dimensions of Muuto items?

Yes. You’ll find the dimensions on the Muuto website.

If I choose Express Post for my order, when can I expect to receive it?

Your order will be shipped within two business days of receiving the order. Find estimated delivery times can be found on the Aus Post website.

Can I return something if I don't like it or it isn't right?

Goods can be returned for ‘change of mind’ for store credit only. It is at our absolute discretion and depends if the order is ‘made to order’. If we agree to a return, there may be a restocking and handling fee. The goods must be returned in original packaging within seven days receiving the order..

Once your return has been treated by our Customer Service team, we will refund you with a credit note.

Can I return something if is damaged?

We sincerely apologise that your product has been damaged or incorrectly packed and will of course help you with this. Please email info@lightly.com.au

Can I pick up my order from a retailer or warehouse?

No, sorry. Our warehouse isn’t set up for the public as it is a busy logistics space. Your order will be shipped within 2 days of receiving it.

Can I return an item for change of mind internationally?

Yes, but this would be at your own cost.

Do you make custom items for trade, such as hotels?

Yes, usually a minimum of 50 units for a custom run of small items like trays. We have worked with many hotels for similar commissions. For larger items, such as tables, Grande planters or tableware, please email info@lightly.com.au

Can I get custom colours for trade projects using Lightly products?

Yes, depending on availability, it will take approximately three weeks to complete.
