“Happiness is good health and a bad memory”

Salute to the ups, downs, plateaus, and all those cloudy moments in between.

Ingrid Bergman once proclaimed, “Happiness is good health and a bad memory”, and in the final month of the year, we can appreciate the sentiment.

We are turning away from the year’s troubles to focus on what our two eyes can see: people, places, food, — and community wherever there are the three.
Here at Lightly, we encourage you to partake in this voluntary amnesia — let it find you at a table among family and friends saying something that traces the lines of “Oh, what a year”.

In this annual eclipse, one year teeters on a vanishing point while a shiny new one remains to be seen. Can the year-end be embraced with the carefree spirit unique to December?
Call it gratitude, exhaustion, excitement or perhaps an amalgamation of the three?

One may opt to sit, stand, or lay, but be sure to make a toast in good company — to happiness, health, and the past 330-something days. Salute to the ups, downs, plateaus, and all those cloudy moments in between.

Try it al fresco, maybe in the sunshine; do it in anticipation of a new year and the break on the horizon. From our table to yours: please, have fun, try forgetting, enjoy the right now.
