Details

In 2005, Lightly launched a range of lighting inspired by lace and doilies, which were created in homage to late grandmother Rosemary Estelle Lightly. I was marrying the aesthetics of traditional crafts with cutting-edge technology such as laser and water cutting patterns in materials, lights and homewares.

Farfalla is reminiscent of a handkerchief floating in the air or butterfly winds in flight- Farfalla is Italian for butterfly.

At the time, this was a new style which Belle magazine first wrote an article in 2005 entitled “Nanna Technology”, and since then, a lot of my work has referenced a nostalgic craft or storytelling combined with modern technology as a signature.
