Arc Plinth Merlot

At the corners of sculpture and design, the Arc pedestal sits. An object that serves multiple functions, its silhouette is informed by two pivotal contemporary design movements. The pedestal and styling object calls on modernism and minimalism to continue Lightly’s exploration into how simple forms and high craftsmanship can enrich our daily lives. 

For Lightly founder Cindy Lee, drawing faces is a “love language”. A new meaning emerged from watching her son do the same: a kinship revealed in his initial marks on paper, showing how he perceives the world of human form. Until he was four, all his faces had a third beautiful eye, the Ajna eye, that allows us to see and understand the inner and outer worlds. (This is the circle on the pedestal) 

Hand cast in raw aluminium, the Arc was designed harmoniously with the Minimalist ethos: simple without overpowering messages or emotions. A porous object designed for humans to fill, fed by meaning and spirit to embody ‘the intimacy of inanimate’.

Care: Due to the handcrafted nature of this product, slight variations may occur in the surface or shape. This is because it is made and finished by hand. The pieces are handmade in limited edition batches of 10. The Raw finish is not lacquered and will oxidise and darken to reveal a distinctive patina. Use a quality metal polish and a soft cloth to restore brightness if preferred. Keep away from water or dust.
