Thank you — The Making of a Symbol

Thank you for being part of The Making of a Symbol during Melbourne Design Week.

Celebrating 20 years of Lightly — over ten days at Collingwood Yards, three new bodies of work were created in wool, resin, and steel, inviting us to consider how objects accumulate meaning and how form, over time, becomes a symbol.

For those who visited, thank you. It was a pleasure to share the work in person. For those who couldn't make it, we'd love to tell you more.

Steel is rooted in the theatrical forms and utilitarian design that have shaped Lightly since 2005. Resin returning to where it all began — a material that carries the memory of the studio's origins. Wool drawing on folklore and tradition, echoing the doilies of the very first collection: pattern as memory, pattern as story, passed down through time.

Thank you to our wine sponsors, SeeSaw Studio, to NGV and Creative Victoria for including us in this year's Melbourne Design Week program — and to the Lightly team who brought it all together.
