The journey from those early days feels both distant and familiar—welding scrap metal from car parts, crafting bowls inspired by vintage doilies, giving new life to thousands of china saucers as delicate butterflies. Looking back, those projects captured something essential: the belief that beauty comes from transformation, and creativity thrives on resourcefulness.

There have been so many highlights along the way. In our first year, Vogue Living featured our doily flats at a function—and the business blossomed from there. A wide-eyed exhibition at Federation Square. Hundreds of laser-cut acrylic bowls and vessels hand-slumped for retailers across Australia. Window dressing for Kate Spade internationally. Collaborations at the Melbourne Cup, Australian Open, and Oaks Day. Pop-ups at the Royal Academy of Arts in London. Functions for Chanel in Spain. Hand-made tablecloths for MoMA New York. And countless collaborations with hotels, interiors, photographers, and architects around the world.

Materials and makers have played such an essential role in our design process. We've had the privilege of exploring so many materials and forms over 20 years—textiles, marble, steel, wood, acrylic, and more. In the first 10 years, we predominantly made in Australia, and now we work alongside artisans around the world to bring our products to life.

Kinship and relationships have been at the heart of who we are since 2005. Lightly was inspired by Cindy-Lee's relationship with her grandmother, Rosemary Lightly - a spirited, curious and adventurous woman who influenced her deeply.

To this day, our products are modern love letters from one soul to another, dedicated to enhancing connections and creating sanctuaries for rituals, family, and loved ones.
